Welcome to Walk in their Footsteps — Battle of the Wilderness May 5-6, 1864.
I am a Potomac Appalachian Trail overseer for the Gordon Flank Attack Loop Trail in Orange, Virginia. About four years ago, I started working as a volunteer for the National Park Service (‘volunteer in the park”). As I became interested in the trails and monuments, I started walking the trails using my GPS. One thing led to another and now I have nine (soon to be ten) papers describing all of the components of this battle. I do not describe the military movements. I leave that to Gordon Rhea and the other 50,000 Civil War authors. Instead, I concentrate on getting you to specific, very historic places on the battlefield which were until now, not documented.
